At a time when the Government laments financial constraints within public coffers, it plans to pay more than $100,000 as catering fees for an upcoming economic summit.

At a time when the Government laments financial constraints within public coffers, it plans to pay more than $100,000 as catering fees for an upcoming economic summit.

The estimated budget for the upcoming two day national economic summit is approximately $360,000, says Minister for Finance Biman Prasad.

Of this, $254,000 of the budget had been committed, he said.

"Major expenses of the two day summit are the hiring of the venue, Grand Pacific Hotel (GPH) which is $32,700, catering $115,000 and cocktail $15,000," Mr Prasad said.

An allocation of $11,000 has been set aside for a kalavata, and an additional $11,000 for bags for the occasion.
