Green Gold Kava is among the eight Pacific producers selected to showcase at Australia’s top trade show.

The Pacific Trade Invest, Australia’s Pacific Showcase at Fine Food Australia, is the southern hemisphere’s leading trade exhibition for the food, hospitality, and retail industries.

The Savusavu based business will be showcasing alongside Vanuatu’s Tanna Coffee, Solomon Islands’ NiuLife, SolTuna and Solomons Gold, Samoa’s Living Koko and Niue’s Niue Vanilla.

This will be the ninth year PTI Australia has facilitated the showcase.

Green Gold Kava director, Praveen Narayan said, the business was established in 2014 and their Kava was sourced from Natewa Bay in Vanua Levu.

“In 2015 we did our first shipment of export. We have won two awards at the Prime Minister’s Business Awards,” Mr Narayan said.

In 2018 Green Gold Kava was awarded the best small businesses operating internationally award winner and they also scooped the best emerging exporter of the year award.

Mr Narayan said Green Gold Kava was the first Pacific Island country company to export kava to Australia.

“We have also been exporting to the United States of America, Cook Islands, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea,” Mr Narayan said.

“This will be our first Food Expo in Australia although we had attended a fine food show in New Zealand. We have huge expectations from this show.

“We are also delighted as we will not only be representing Green Gold Kava but will also be representing Fiji.

“We are looking forward to securing a market and our team is working really hard in preparing for this tradeshow.”

Green Gold Kava will be showcasing its Premium Fijian Noble Kava Traditional Grind available in 50g, 100g, 250g, 500g, and 1kg.

The show is from September 5 to 8.

The company has plans to secure a pharmaceutical market.
