Grills Junior Opens First Labasa Outlet

The Grills Junior restaurant opened at Damodar City Labasa attract customers with its menu uniqueness, open kitchen and fresh produce.

This is gist of the company director, Vimal Kumar said, during an exclusive interview with SunBiz last week.

Mr Kumar said they employed 10-12 locals with a support crew to assist in the first few weeks.

When approached on the business idea to invest in Labasa, he said the food choice was limited and they wanted introduced their unique grilled menu.

“During my last trip to Labasa, I observed the potential that Damodar complex can offer for our outlet in terms of reaching a wider customer base,” he said.

It is the first outlet the company has opened in the Northern Division and the third branch in the country.

He said he supported the vision that Damodar Group chief executive officer, Div Damodar, had for business diversification in Labasa.

“As a young entrepreneur in the market, we believe in upskilling the food business to overseas standards so customer retention is possible,” Mr Kumar said.

Prices of food is based on the local market demands and prices would be maintained to reasonable levels to ensure food lovers don’t miss out.

“The logistics of bringing food items from Suva to Labasa is slightly high, but we try to maintain prices,” Mr Kumar said.

The outlet introduces customers to the first open kitchen in Labasa where customers can see the effort and manner in which their meals are prepared.

When asked on the financial stability of the outlet in Labasa, Mr Kumar felt confident at the big scale market of people here in Labasa and Vanua Levu.

“We don’t believe in competition among other food outlets, we believe in the choice of the customer and we respect it.”

Online payment options available

Mr Kumar said with the digital change in how payments are opted by certain customers, they also have an online ordering platform.

“We have this platform in Viti Levu and we will introduce in Labasa, but, certain limitations will be addressed.”

Future plans are being developed for a large-scale flagship outlet in Labasa.
