Fijians have taken the lead into the buying of apartments at the $225 million Mirage Resort on Naisoso Island in Nadi with $50m in sales.

This announcement comes as Relcorp (Fiji) Limited owner and developer of Naisoso Island, Bob Lowres officially launched the first stage of civil and beachfront works on Wednesday.

“I have actually been blown away by the response to our sales especially the people of Fiji who have already bought $50 million,” he said.

“This alone makes me really proud that our people have invested in this major project.

“And we have not really gone out internationally with the sales, but we will be doing that soon through a $2m marketing campaign.

“This campaign will get underway once we confirm our builder and hotel operator,” Mr Lowres said.

With absolute beachfront locality on Fiji’s glorious Naisoso Island, Mirage Resort is expected to present a limited collection of 144 brand-new luxury beachfront apartments that offer a premium waterside lifestyle.

The $3 million civil and beachfront contract was awarded to M Iqbal investments of Nadi.

“Relcorp (Fiji) Limited purchased Naisoso Island 19 Years ago and did the initial subdivision and infrastructure works. I am really proud to begin our first major resort development on the island with the Mirage project,” Mr Lowres said.

“I am particularly proud to have Mohammed Iqbal (owner of M Iqbal Investments) and his team begin the civil works and I have total confidence in them.”

Mr Lowres said with some civil works already underway, the first stage would be the filling and compacting of the land area to the level needed and this would include the whole Mirage beachfront area which will be beautifully landscaped with white sand, palm trees and lush tropical planting

The actual building works for the resort is expected to begin in October this year with works expected to be complete in October 2025.

“Currently we have five builders who will be providing their pricing soon on the building of the resort so hopefully we will make the announcement in four weeks’ time who the contract would be awarded to,” Mr Lowres said.

“Thereafter we will start organising materials so we do not get caught up with the world wide shortages of building materials and order in advance.”

The resort is expected to be built on six acres of land with two acres of landscaped park land beside the resort.

Meanwhile Mr Iqbal said all works have been going smoothly since they began and he was optimistic that all civil and beach front works would be completed on time.

The Mirage Resort would be an exclusive collection of Fiji’s finest freehold luxury apartments combining world class amenities and facilities.

The resort would showcase a wide range of first-class facilities including spectacular recreational amenities, such as three swimming pools, including an adult pool with bar, health and wellness spa, gym, restaurants, cafes, business and conference services, retail shops, a magnificent roof top bar and cafe and more.

The resort was designed by internationally renowned company DBI and AAPi Design Co Ltd from Suva and features contemporary and functional architectural design with Fijian influences.
