A leading bakery and pastry outlet, Hot Bread Kitchen (HBK) yesterday opened its newest shop along with its biggest eatery.

Situated at Namoli Avenue in Lautoka, the $750,000 outlet will be the company’s Western Centralized Pies & Pastry Production Facility.

Dr Ilisapeci Kubuabola Samisoni, a board member of HBK and also the South Pacific Commission’s non communicable disease advisor - Monitoring, Evaluation officiated at the event yesterday.

Timely injection

At a time when business was slowing down for most, HBK had taken another leap of faith to continue investing in Fiji’s economy, she said.

“Today’s achievements by HBK would no doubt have made both my parents very proud, given their own commitments to national development, and their own special relationship with the founders of HBK.

“In my mother’s absence however, I am comforted that her siblings are here today.”

The Namoli Avenue bakery brings to 27 the number of HBK outlets in Fiji.

Dr Samisomi said the site was strategically selected for customers parking.

“I am aware that this Namoli shop has been in the pipeline since April, 2018.”

West Facility

The shop, as HBK’s Western Centralized Pies and Pastry Production Facility, will make meat pies, quiches, sweet pastries and cakes for its Nadi and Lautoka outlets.

“Previously, HBK Jetpoint was the centralised production facility, meeting demands for pies and pastries for the Western division, before it became impossible to continue providing the service given the growing demand.

“HBK Jetpoint with Namoli opening, will now focus solely on bread production for the shop and wholesale division which is from Nadi to Yako Village.

“HBK Namoli will assist HBK Westpoint and HBK City Centre during bread shortfalls in situations of equipment breakdowns, staff absenteeism and water disconnection.

“They will also focus on the wholesale division of bread and pastries for Lautoka and highway towards Ba.”

Upgrade

Dr Samisoni said HBK was transiting to a modern bakery structure with brick cladding finish, digital TV screen menu displays, wider product display counters and units and, timber partitions for a transparent view into our production areas.

She said it was a similar model to HBK’s outlets at the University of the South Pacific and Nadi Main Street.

“This shop will have a sitting capacity of 60 customers at one time, which makes it the biggest yet of all eateries that HBK has introduced of late.

Dr Samisoni said HBK ensured service delivery of a caliber that was second to none in the bread industry in Fiji.

The Namoli outlet, with 65 staff members, has a 10-year approval lease from Khera Limited with fixed rental on the basis that HBK will incur the cost of Energy Fiji Limited’s 300kVa Pad Mount transformer.
