The Malolo women’s rugby team went down 29-59 to NewWorld IGA Ba in their opening round of the Royal Tea Ranadi Cup clash at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, on Wednesday.
Despite showing determination, Malolo struggled to keep up with the experienced Ba line-up, who dominated the match.
Malolo team manager Ana Rabuka said it was a good game as the Ba women’s side has very talented players.
She said their players have not been together as some of them are new.
“We managed to meet and discuss before the first round of games,” Rabuka said.
“The main weaknesses seen in the game was lack of teamwork, as most of our players were first timers and also they also they were playing together for the first time.”
Rabuka said part of their loss was due to poor officiating as there were poor calls made, which was not fair for the players.
“The organisers are to look into the matter and embrace professionalism during the competition.
“Overall, I’m very proud of the girls. The team will return to camp this weekend and we look forward to Wednesday where we play Navosa.”
