Namaka man to front court over alleged Facebook scams
Police allege the accused conned victims in three separate incidents involving the sale of building materials advertised on Facebook.

A 39-year-old man from Namaka is expected to appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today, charged with three counts of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception.
Police allege the accused conned victims in three separate incidents involving the sale of building materials advertised on Facebook.
In the first case, he is accused of taking $2000 from a victim in March 2022 but failing to deliver the materials.

The matter was reported to Sigatoka Police.
In August 2023, the accused allegedly obtained $550 from another victim under the same pretense. A report was lodged at Nakasi Police Station after the materials were never received.
The third case involves $190 allegedly obtained in August 2024, with the victim reporting the matter to Lami Police Station after failing to receive the promised goods.
Police confirmed the man will be produced in court today.
