A female leader in a male-dom­inant industry says there are prescribed legal avenues to resort to for the disgruntled lot, where her decisions are concerned.

Director Environment, Sandeep Singh, recently came under the lime­light after a letter from the Mining and Quarrying Council, highlighted five areas of concerns, part of which were related to decisions of the En­vironment department.

In an exclusive interview with Sun­Biz, the country’s first female director for environment said she carried out her duties within the ambit of the law.

“I am doing my job to ensure sus­tainable development,” she said.

“The appeal process is legislated and has been communicated to business communities during the environment impact assessment (EIA) roundtables and clinics.
