Largest Tourism Exhibition This Year

Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association president, Brian Kirsch says this year is the largest exhibition for HOTEC in 17 years.

Mr Kirsch made this comment while speaking at the opening of the FHTA HOTEC Tradeshow and Tourism Talanoa Symposium 2022 at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort at Denarau, Nadi yesterday.

He said there had been a lot of interest shown from exhibitors and this year there were twice as many booths as originally planned to have 35 booths. He said all the exhibitors were all eager to show the industry, other suppliers and interested members of the public what they could do to support FHTA and improve their products and services.

“We hope that the industry takes advantage of this and comes out to visit the tradeshow, review the products on offer, talk to the many suppliers here and make those business deals to make 2023 another year that exceeds expectations but perhaps in a more calm and managed and deliberate manner,” said Mr Kirsch.

“We have come a long way since our borders have re-opened and we still have a long way to go to be able to claim full recovery for our industry and of course the wider Fijian economy.”

Mr Kirsch said the symposium was focused on encouraging sustainability and resilience and equipping industry players with the information they need to implement strategies for success in their businesses.

“We hope that this will build on the close working relationships we developed prior to reopening our borders and strengthen our ability to further these significant dialogues between the private tourism sector and the public sector bodies that we interact with,” he added.
