Nawi Island Limited injected $1.2 million into its project, making it the largest investment in Savusavu, Nawi Island Limited general manager Lindsay Lee said.

The property developers teamed up with the Fiji Development Bank in 2015 to further the project.

Phase one is complete which includes the marina, restaurant and bar, administration offices and yacht bathroom facilities.

Now they are entering phase two, which is the beach club, spa and kids club.

Their retails area is almost at completion, and this is expected to house a bakery, a coffee shop, boutique and gallery, a cultural booth and Forex exchange booth.

Employment

The project is running smoothly, and construction is progressing with 100 per cent local crew support.

They started with 20 employees and are now up to 60.

“This is excellent for the community as more opportunities are arising for employment,” Mr Lee said.

Update on the project

They now have the nautical restaurant and skippers bar opened and they operate from 8am to 10pm daily.

The restaurant serves meals, including pizzas, while the bar has an appealing cocktail list.

“Meghji Supermarket are moving in right now and they will be operational in the next week,” Mr Lee said.

“Yacht Help, our super yacht agents have an office here on the island and they handle all our superyacht bookings, provisioning and other requests from our super yacht guests.”

All business open at 8am close at 5pm except for the restaurant and bar that stay open.

They have a shuttle bure at Waitui Marina in Savusavu where one can board the boat across to Nawi. The cost is $3.50 per person return. By design, the marina will comprise 132 berths of which 21 are for superyachts.
