Co-owner of Watika Farm in Rakiraki, Jean Tikaram, and her husband are one of the few bee gurus in Fiji. Mrs Tikaram, originally from South Africa, is a familiar face you will see mainly at the ROC Market in Suva and Vuda Market.
They operate more than 50 beehives that can be found on the hills of Wairuku in Rakiraki. The farm offers bee educational tours, delicious honey and honey flavoured nibbles including honey butter, chilli honey and honey flavoured pastries.
“We are a husband-and-wife team, one from South Africa and one from Fiji,” said Mrs Tikaram.
