Matia Loga has been a barista and sales assistant at Lava Café on Joske Street in Suva for seven months but is already thriving and enjoying coming to work.

He dropped out of secondary school in Year 13 to find a full-time job. An uncle suggested Mr Loga apply for a job at Gloria Jean’s. He was successful and began working at the Gloria Jean’s Thurston Street café from 2018 to 2022.

Mr Loga then joined Lava Café after reaching out to a friend and later interviewing for a job a few days later.

He works there from Monday to Saturday, starting his shift every morning at 7am making coffee and helping around the café.

While Mr Loga has not travelled much around Fiji, he loves spending time at his home in Pacific Harbour, visiting the local hotels and enjoying what the resort area and natural environment have to offer.

SunBiz spoke to the 25-year-old from Naqelelevu, in the Ringgold Isles to learn about his recommended places to eat and unwind, as well as what he loves about Lava Café.
