Let's Go Local: Taveuni Top’s List For Mum Preneur

With an aim to provide food products that are not easily available, Felichya Kayes has successfully turned her vision into a flourishing business.

Ms Kayes is the owner and founder of Aroma Kitchen, a business which specializes in gluten free and vegan pickles, dips and chutneys.

“The first time I used ingredients from home to create my product, after selling at the Pacific Harbor market day,” Ms Kayes said.

“It was sold out, and I made $165.00. with that I invested into my business and gradually I bought everything for my business where it is today.

A graduating member of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), Ms Kaye said she was able to learn business tactics and how to operate a business through the programme.

“When I started, I just learnt business skills from whatever other people had told me, but now I can very confidently say I am a proud ‘mum preneur’ and I know how to run my business,” she said.

“I had started with only two products; mango chutney and chilli pickles, but now I have 30 products.”

She added the training provided by AWE taught her how to sell her products and how to interest potential customers.

“With AWE, I was able to develop my alleviator speech, which is basically telling customers why they should choose my products.”

Ms Kayes was thankful to the women entrepreneurs business council for facilitating the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs alongside the Makoi Women’s Vocations Center.

Mrs Kayes encourages individuals to make use of their resources to earn income in order to make a living.
