‘Marriottise Them’

People are the heart of tourism. In the age of advancing technology, the locals re­main the most prized as­sets of the tourism indus­try, line minister Viliame Gavoka said.

People are the heart of tourism. In the age of advancing technology, the locals re­main the most prized as­sets of the tourism indus­try, line minister Viliame Gavoka said.

His comments followed a graduation ceremony for 42 villagers of the Fiji Marriott Training Acad­emy.

Multi-Property vice president Pacific Islands Marriott International, Neeraj Chadha, said the idea behind the academy was to expose local tal­ents.

“Marriottise them, make them job-ready by providing eight weeks of rigorous theory and prac­tical training,” Mr Chad­ha said.
