People are the heart of tourism. In the age of advancing technology, the locals remain the most prized assets of the tourism industry, line minister Viliame Gavoka said.
His comments followed a graduation ceremony for 42 villagers of the Fiji Marriott Training Academy.
Multi-Property vice president Pacific Islands Marriott International, Neeraj Chadha, said the idea behind the academy was to expose local talents.

“Marriottise them, make them job-ready by providing eight weeks of rigorous theory and practical training,” Mr Chadha said.
