Vatukoula Gold Mines Pte Limited has to wait for a Special Prospecting License (SPL) for mining activities at Mt Kasi which covers 59,526 hectares of land in the north.

Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosarogo, has taken a personal interest in the development of Mt Kasi, and will spearhead discussions with landowners over mineral resource prospects.
He is scheduled to travel to Vanua Levu next month after the 2023-2024 National Budget is announced.
Vatukoula Gold Mines Pte Limited has to wait for a Special Prospecting License (SPL) for mining activities at Mt Kasi which covers 59,526 hectares of land in the north.
Related stories
It will await any objection from the public pursuant to the Mining Act 1965, before the license is issued.
It is a 30-day wait period, it began on June 8, 2023.
