Coming from a literary family – her father, Ratu Jo Nacola, is one of Fiji’s first Indigenous playwrights and the first Fijian to graduate from the University of Waikato – she was fortunate to have the love of reading and writing instilled in her from a young age.
Early this month, the Fiji Museum Shop (Sitoa) welcomed invited guests to ‘An Evening with Adi Tulia Nacola’ with the support of event partners Fiji Arts Council, Tokani: Friends of the Fiji Museum and the IHG Group.
The evening featured a beautiful display of the author’s works, a look into the inspiration behind both the books and her writing practice, as well as readings from each book by the author’s parents.
In her speech, Adi Tulia Nacola focused on the importance of storytelling and what it means to share our stories and ourselves with others.
