Nadi International Airport Eases Restriction

For the first time in two years, fully vaccinated people will be allowed access to farewell their loved ones departing Nadi International Airport.

The decision comes into effective today.

Fiji Airports Chairman, Geoffrey Shaw, said that whilst COVID-19 protocols would remain and strictly enforced, restrictions would be eased to enable departing travelers to be farewelled by their loved ones.

The relaxation coincides with the easing of worldwide travel barriers, Fiji Airports said.

“The relaxation of restrictions for fully vaccinated members of the public will allow departing travelers to be farewelled by their loved ones in our Departures Terminal food and beverage outlets,” Mr Shaw said.

“This is a welcome change as we gradually ease and review our health and safety protocols in accordance with international best practices.”

Fiji Airports acting Chief Executive Officer, Isei Tudreu, said Nadi the passenger processing section of the terminal remained restricted.

“Mandatory requirements including the wearing of face masks, maintaining a safe distance and sanitising or washing hands regularly, will continue to be part of our new normal,” he said.

“ All our airport tenancies, including food and beverage outlets, are fully operational."

“Departing passengers can share time with their families and friends at one of our outlets."

“This will be a return to some normalcy in our departures area."

“However, for arriving passengers, current imposed COVID-19 restrictions remain."

“The public is restricted from waiting for passengers in the arrivals area.”

Nadi International Airport is Airport Health Accredited by Airports Council International.
