No New Tyres Not A Problem, Says Bandag
Fiji Bandag’s retreads last longer than new tyres, cost less, use less oil and energy to produce and reduces landfill.

There is a shortages of new tyres in light of the coronavirus pandemic, Fiji Bandag Pte Ltd has said.
To ease the situation, the company is offering retreading tyres, said general manager Lawrence Robert.

Retreading, Mr Robert said, involved the import of raw material from Australia.
“If there is shortage of new tyres, we will always have backup tyres from Australia, where our raw material is sourced.

Employees
Fiji Bandag hasn’t laid off employees as yet, Mr Robert said.
But if things get tough, they would probably have to review their cost of operation.
“We have five branches in Fiji, located in Suva, Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, and Labasa.
“At the moment we haven’t decided anything yet.”
Bandag employs 60 people.
