Home Affairs minister Pio Tikoduadua has distanced himself from claims that moves were afoot to remove a Cabinet minister, over concerns of not towing the party line.

According to allegations received by Fiji Sun, three Cabinet ministers from one political party were behind the removal of their fourth counterpart.

But Mr Tikodudua yesterday said he was not one of them, as he referred further queries to other executives in National Federation Party.

The concerns stemmed from the reappointment of an executive in the finance sector, and included other claims about proper use of funds.

“I can say I am not leading the charge to remove the Cabinet member,” Mr Tikoduadua told SunBiz.

“The other allegations, the Cabinet minister needs to comment on.”

Mr Tikoduadua’s remarks could be interpreted by some quarters as a measure of credence to claims surrounding the management of public finances.

Queries emailed to the respective Cabinet minister was unanswered when this edition went to print.
