A top executive of the world-renowned brand and household name, Samsung Electronics, will be delivering the keynote address at Fiji Korea Business at the Grand Pacific Hotel today.

President of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, Rhee Inyong, who is Head of Corporate Relations, will address a roomful of prominent business figures and representatives of government agencies of Fiji and Korea.

The forum is a follow-up from the successful Fiji Korea Trade Expo last year aptly organized to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Fiji and Korea.

The theme of the event is ‘Building a post COVID-19 resilient economy and creating new business opportunities".

Korean Ambassador to Fiji, Young-kyu Park, said in this digital era, the presence of a top executive from Korea’s very own, Samsung, was befitting.

“Samsung’s product line ranging from home appliances to mobile phones and accessories has been well-known and accepted in the Pacific Islands including Fiji,” he said.

“Through this forum and visit to Fiji, Samsung would like to explore business opportunities to further expand its business and better provide customer service as well as checking the feasibility of conducting Samsung’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program as a responsible global company.”

“At the side of the forum, Samsung Electronics will also run a Samsung booth to showcase its cutting-edge products to the participants of the forum.”

World Expo 2030 bid Samsung, as a representative Korean company, also supports the Korean Government’s bid to host World Expo 2030 in Busan, he added.

“As a member of the public-private joint ‘2030 Busan World Expo Bidding Committee’, Samsung Electronics actively supports the bid,” Mr Park said.

“This public-private joint well reflects Korea’s strong will to host the World Expo 2030 in Busan.”

  • Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport’s director for Trade and Economics Seema Sharma
  • Investment Fiji chief executive officer, Kamal Chetty. The forum begins at 2pm, culminated with a buffet dinner at 6pm.
