Mt Kasi, Vanua Levu, could be home to Fiji’s third operating gold mine.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced his Government’s direction over furthering the interest of mineral resources.
He said future developments over Fiji’s natural resources would have to “harmonize” with his Government’s policies.
“These people who are asking us to make a lot of sacrifices have developed a certain development, by destroying their local environment,” Mr Rabuka said.
