PM Visits Damodar Labasa Complex

The first phase of the Damodar City Complex in Labasa will be open for business by year end. These include the supermarket wing and other shop outlet spaces.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama visited the site on Tuesday and was briefed on the progress of the project by its Labasa project manager, Cornelia Smith.
Mr Bainimarama said the complex fulfilled the Look North Policy development plans and would provide employment opportunities for Fijians in Labasa.

The Prime Minister was told that 28 out of the 29 shop outlets (in phase 1) had been developed. In total, 81 shop outlet spaces are allocated at the Complex with some tenants opting to rent more than a shop.
Ms Smith said the second phase of the Damodar complex development was expected to be completed in June, next year.
“For the first phase, some tenants had already reserved the shop outlets while some had signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the group,” she stated.
The second phase will include the cinema section and its adjacent shops. She added the construction phase was progressing well and set to meet its deadline.
