Qio Kava is stamping its mark in the Australian market, as demand for the lucrative commodity grows.

Waka premium and Savusavu premium were their biggest sellers, and Australia’s biggest online kava vendor, the Australia Kava Shop (AKS), will be its retailers.

Waka Premium is 100 per cent kava roots while Savusavu premium is 80 per cent waka lewena and 20 per cent waka.
It took over 10 years to get the products across, said AKS owner, Cameron McLeod.
Mr Mcleod said the partnership began in 2012 when he was while working in the kava industry in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
During the launch of this product, it was revealed based on a decade-long friendship between AKS Cameron McLeod and Zurin Ali and Atish Govind of Qio Kava.

“We needed to expand our range of kava,” said Mr McLeod.
“I went to the kava market in Nadi to get a better understanding of Fiji kava.”
Their first meeting in Nadi shaped the way for both the business to grow, making Qio Kava an exporter of the product.
“The trial tests we did with our VIP customers came back glowingly positive,” said Mr Mcleod.
“We expect the demand to skyrocket over the next few years.”
The European and United States markets are next on the list once the business rolls out well in Australia.
“He helped us with a range of other areas such as compliance and the FDA, said Mr Govind.
