A $138 million construction deal for the new Radisson Blu Mirage Resort on Naisoso Island was signed in Nadi yesterday.

The deal was signed between the developers Relcorp and construction company China Railway No 5.

Radisson Blu Mirage Resort will emerge to offer 144 spacious one, two and three bedroom absolute beachfront apartments, across eight beautifully designed buildings. It will grow into a prestigious and private escape, and a South Pacific destination that will be in high demand.

“We are very excited about the starting of the construction,” Bob Lowres, managing director of Relcorp Fiji Pte Limited, the developers of Naisoso Island.

“We are on a tight two-year budget.”

Mr Lowres said the new resort would be Fiji’s finest address.

“I believe we have produced a wonderful residential complex with great houses and now we are moving into this era of developing our resort.”

CRC No 5 deputy manager Fiji, Jimmy Lee said this was a big day for the company since initial talks began almost nine months ago.

The resort is expected to be become fully operational by May 2026.

Mr Lowres said an important issue that with those that have already bought apartments, they are settling their payments as if the resort was in operation right now.

He also said am important factor that attracted a lot of buyers was the fact that the Pacific Specialist Healthcare hospital, the biggest private medical facility if the Pacific was on minutes’ drive away.

“That’s (PSH) been a big attraction. Actually we had talked to a lot of people who have left Fiji and developed businesses.

“They have always been saying that the medical facilities had been a consideration where thet have been no medical facilities that has been world standard.

“We are very excited about what the hospital (PSH) has been providing in terms of facilities.

“That’s been a lure for us from people - it’s just five minutes up the road.”

Relcorp’s general manager Ruth Kippax said they sold over half the apartments already and there was still a lot of interest coming in.

“I thought this month would be quiet but it keeps getting stronger with more enquiries,” she said.

“We are so pleased with the support.”

Ms Kippax said this was especially true for Fijians locally and abroad, who bought 80 percent of the apartments already sold.
