RBF Issues Fiji Numismatic 100 Cents Banknote

The new 100 cents numismatic banknote is among the hundreds of non-circulation numismatic currency that the RBF has produced since 1974.

The Reserve Bank of Fiji has released a legal tender 100 cents numismatic banknote available for purchase from the RBF.

This 100 cents numismatic banknotes is similar to our 88 cents numismatic banknote issued last year.

The 100 cents numismatic banknotes will not be put into circulation and is only for collection purposes.

The new 100 cents numismatic banknote is among the hundreds of non-circulation numismatic currency that the RBF has produced since 1974.

This practice is similar to that of stamp production, whereby hobbyists can purchase the banknotes and coins for their collections.

The central bank in statement said past numismatic banknotes and coins issued by the RBF, have covered themes such as Christmas, landmarks, celebrities such as musicians and fauna like birds of Fiji, and have been an important income stream for the RBF.

“In the past three years alone, the RBF has generated over $8 million in income through the sale of numismatic banknotes and coins.

“Only a limited number of the 100 cents numismatic banknotes has been produced for sales effective from 08 August 2023.

“Given its special numismatic nature and the limited number produced, it is expected to be of value as collectors’ items both locally and abroad,” the bank said.
