Renovation Works on Regal Building End this Month
It was for many years from the 1960s to the 1990s one of the most popular cinemas in the city and many Suva residents have wonderful memories of it.

The renovation work on Suva’s Regal building is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
Regal building is part of the Damodar Group property portfolio.
It is an iconic building on Victoria Parade.

According to our source, who spoke on condition of not being identified, the Regal building underwent a major refurbishment from October last year.
This former-cinema building has been converted into a two-storey retail building.
New escalators, aircon units installed.
Refurbishment, Building Features
A major refurbishment of the building was designed by Larsen Holtom Maybin (LHM) Architects.
Area
The refurbished building now offers a gross floor area of: ground floor 570 sqm, first floor 605 sqm and Total Gross Floor Area 1,175 sqm
The major refurbishments works undertaken were:
- New 1st floor level with loading capacity designed for white goods, furniture retailer
- New escalators installed, new goods hoist installed at rear (1 tonne)
- New energy-efficient VRV Air Conditioning system installed
- New flooring with new ceramic tiles, New shopfronts.
- Entire roof replaced with new cyclone-rated roof
- Entire building exteriors repainted with heritage façade retained
Building opening
The source stated that the opening of the building would be announced once everything is finalised.
