Retired home economics teacher Savita Nair said her passion has always been sewing.

Ms Nair invested $500 to start her tailoring business and named it Devi’s collection.

Sewing was part of her daily routine.

“Generating a second source of income for me and my family was very crucial. That’s the whole reason why I started my business to keep myself financially stable."

Devi’s collection is a home based business in Nausori

The fear of not having customers is a challenge, she said. Ms Nair makes pillow cases eco –friendly handbags and other accessories.

Garden City market day is a platform for her to display her work.

She acknowledged the market operators for giving her and other business owners the space to showcase their talents.
