Rosie Travel Group is a household name in Fiji’s tourism industry.
The company is not only 100 per cent locally-owned but is also a 100 per cent family-owned business with an established reputation spanning four decades and a major contributor to foreign exchange earnings.
Therefore it is no surprise the company has won a number of Fijian Awards in recognition for its excellence in service including the prestigious Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Awards.
Mr Whitton said while Fiji had limited resources which would have an impact on exports, foreign reserves and economic activity, the most extraordinary part was the country’s ability and skill to ‘export services’ to overseas markets.
At the centre of the ‘export of services’ to all our international markets, he explained, was tourism - Fiji’s largest and most important ‘export’.
“A service that is 37 per cent of our GDP, provides jobs directly to 50,000 people, and 100,000 indirectly,” he said.
“This service is known worldwide as the ‘Bula Spirit’, which is found in our Fijian people; genuine warmth, hospitality and care.
“Visitors from all over the globe come to our islands to interact with our people, and they concur with what international survey results say over and over again that ‘Fiji: Where the happiest people in the world live.
“The Rosie Travel Group is honoured to be part of this vibrant, highly resilient ‘service industry’.
“This year will see over 750,000 international visitors coming to Fiji, bringing in FJ$1.8 billion in Foreign Currency.
“The country can use this to pay overseas suppliers for essential imports to keep it running, such as fuel, machinery, medicine, mobile phones, food products and other commodities.”
The Rosie Travel Group operates a diverse portfolio of tourism investments, including transportation, inbound tourism, retail travel, overseas wholesaling and hotel resort ownership (Malolo Island Resort and Likuliku Lagoon Resort).
