Vendors have been reminded to comply with the Food Safety Act as Sigatoka prepares to welcome the New Year with a major street party and trading event.

Sigatoka Town Council chief executive officer, Anand Sarni Pillay, confirmed that the street party will take place on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the Naidu Car Park in Sigatoka Town.

He said the event would also serve as an opportunity for local businesses and entrepreneurs to benefit from increased foot traffic and festive spending.

In line with the celebration, the council is inviting business opera -tors, stakeholders, and interested groups to lease trading stalls.

Stall leasing will open from 8am on December 31 and remain available until lam on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

"Interested parties are requested to liaise with the finance department at the Town Council Building. Terms, conditions, and other requirements will be discussed with the council team," Mr Pillay said.

He added that stall numbers are limited and will be issued on a firstcome, first-served basis.

"Tents will be provided by the council, and vendors are required to comply with the Food Safety Act," he said. Meanwhile, Nadi Town Council confirmed it will not host a street party this year.

Chief executive officer, Muni Reddy, said the council would instead continue to support outdoor sales by households and businesses, which traditionally begin before Christmas. He said the council's resources will focus on new year development priorities, including market facility upgrades and improvements within the town area.
