Son Motivates Mom, Starts Business with $300

Even with a busy working life, having passion for something that gives birth to a good engagement of relief during your lowest years is a must.

Struggle and obstacles in life did not stop Seini Waqabaca from starting her tailoring business.

A single mom, the owner of Pumpkin Creation was determined to do anything to cater for her son’s needs.

The 44-year-old is a professional tailor at the newly built Flea Market in Suva.

Ms Waqabaca said her son motivated her to become an independent person and to move on despite the struggles in life.

“I started off with just $300 in my wallet. It was a lifetime investment for me,” Ms Waqabaca said.

“Believe in yourself, it could do great things. Have faith nothing is impossible.”

She said the opportunity to start her business at the Flea Market was important and she would not trade it for anything else.

She has been a tailor for sometime now.

“The fear of not having customers was a challenge,” she said.

Ms Waqabaca makes bula wears, eco –friendly handbags and other accessories.

She acknowledged the Flea Market operators for giving her and other business owners the space to strive in the business world.
