Sustainable Tourism Champion, Colin Philp Dies

Mr Philp inspired many to achieve great things and give back to Fiji and the community in so many ways.

Sustainable tourism champion, Colin Philp, is reported to have died after a surgery in Australia, a family source said.

The source did not wish to be identified. Mr Philp was widely known as a mentor, champion for sustainable tourism, traditional voyaging, regenerative agriculture and the arts in Fiji and the wider Pacific.

Also, a fellow ocean activist, sailor, surfer and paddler.

In November, an online fundraiser on gofund-me.com was launched to help medical cost for Mr Philp’s liver transplant in Australia.

Locally, arts advocate groups and those known to Mr Philp also joined in to do their bit to contribute.

Mr Philp was the manager at Leleuvia Island Resort.

The resort is one of 12 tourism operations under the group Duavata Collective that believe tourism should enhance cultural heritage and the environment.

It is understood that Mr Philp died over the weekend.
