Fiji’s unemployment rate could escalate if certain clauses in a draft Employment Bill are passed, as employers and businesses threaten to close shop over the impact it would have on productivity.
Reinstatement of all forms of leave - amounting to 15 days for females, and 10 days for males, over and above annual leave and maternity leave - will burden employers, the Textile Clothing and Footwear Council said.
For businesses, the move translates as 20 per cent non-productivity gains, among a host of other concerns.
