VAT Monitoring System Stage 3 Suspension Welcomed

Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) welcomed the Government’s announcement to suspend the im­plementation of VAT Monitoring System (VMS) Stage 3.

Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) welcomed the Government’s announcement to suspend the im­plementation of VAT Monitoring System (VMS) Stage 3.

The association had raised concerns about the implementation of VMS to industries that were comprehensively compliant with VAT payments. It is already very simply veri­fiable, a statement from the association said.

The costs associated with VMS implemen­tation, including purchasing physical equip­ment and meeting system and software upgrade requirements, were a significant burden for many local businesses, and SMEs.
