Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) welcomed the Government’s announcement to suspend the implementation of VAT Monitoring System (VMS) Stage 3.
The association had raised concerns about the implementation of VMS to industries that were comprehensively compliant with VAT payments. It is already very simply verifiable, a statement from the association said.
The costs associated with VMS implementation, including purchasing physical equipment and meeting system and software upgrade requirements, were a significant burden for many local businesses, and SMEs.
