The $200 million Vatu Talei Resort project is on time, says Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa resort general manager Vincent Macquet.

He announced this during the Sofitel Global 60th anniversary celebration.

Mr Macquet said the new resort with more than 185 rooms, was expected to be a new benchmark in the luxury segment within the Fijian Hotel landscape. It is scheduled to open in 2026.

“We are very confident that we’ve got the resources to deliver a new addition to the Fijian hospitality landscape. The new Vatu Talei project is expected to open in a record time which is under three years,” he said.

He said the design was completed.

“We ended the last phase of our planning before we started the groundwork. Groundwork will start in about two months.”

Once completed it will have three outstanding restaurants and over 4000 square metres of pool to add to its features.

“Just to put that into perspective, it will be four times bigger than our main tool at the frontier,” Mr Macquet said.

“It’s about setting the tone for the next level of luxury and hospitality in Fiji.”

SOFITEL GLOBAL

Sofitel Global was founded 60 years ago, in the industrial town, of Strasbourg, France, and it opened its doors.

Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau, opened its doors in December 2005.

Mr Macquet said the resort has catered to more than two million guests since then.
