This was confirmed by Chen Yu Ting, Marketing Specialist for New Era Development Limited, the investment company behind the project.
Ms Chen made a presentation last week during a special forum of the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industries at the Capricorn Hotel in Nadi.
“This will be the hotel project and we are proud to build this in Fiji,” she said.
The project, is expected to get off the ground in a couple of months as some paper work was still to be done including approvals from Government on certain issues.
“We have out people working with Government on the project,” she said.
Ms Chen said the project was expected to be completed by 2022 and would cover about 1.3 kilometres of Lomolomo Beach.
The area has long been a picnic spot for people residing from Nadi to Ba.
“We hope to have half of the workforce from China and half locals once the hotel is completed.”
The hotel building will be a five star attraction and will occupy from the fifth floor to the 11th floor.
The first to fourth floors would be reserved for commercial including a spa, cafeterias, restaurants, duty free outlets and large conference rooms.
“We will also have an infinity swimming pool which will actually be done on the fifth floor.
“The entire project will sit on 30 acres.”
Each room in the villas and apartments will include bedrooms rooms and two living rooms.
Each bedroom will have its own bathroom facilities while there would be an open kitchen, over-sized balcony and private gardens.
Ms Chen said she could not say right how big would be the workforce at the new resort.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held in May 2015.
There the total $500million investment was announced with half the investment being met by the company and half by the province of Guangdong in China.
New Era Development Limited engages in tourism and real estate developments and was registered in Fiji in 2014.
Present at the earlier announcement meeting at the Lautoka City Council with CEO Jone Nakauvadra were the company’s chairman Deng Peng and Chinese delegates.
