Users of Fiji’s consumer price index have been warned to exercise caution when interpreting statements.

The warning from Fiji Bureau of Statistics was issued on its Consumer Price Index - December 2023 report.

According to a bureau statement dated January 2, 2024, the consumer price index weights were derived from the household and income expenditure survey 2013/2014.

“The average annual rate of inflation for the 12 months to December 2023 stands at four per cent, while the month-on-month inflation rate stands at 5.1 per cent,” the bureau chief executive officer Kemueli Naiqama said.

“The All Items consumer price index for December 2023, registered a decrease of 0.6 per cent over November 2023, and stands at 123.2.”
