Two projects of Yatu Lau Company Limited are proceeding according to plan.
These projects are the renovation of the Yatu Lau Arcade in Suva and the Arts Village project (in Pacific Harbour) in collaboration with the Damodar Group.
In 2022, Yatu Lau established its new five-year strategic plan for 2023-2027, aiming to partner with appropriate businesses to expand its investment portfolio.

Chairman of the Lau Provincial Council, Ratu Meli Saubulinayau, emphasised the importance of these projects in showcasing Lau’s cultural heritage.
“I was part of the team that encouraged Damodar and the Lau company to involve traditional builders in the construction process. Builders from Kabara are reconstructing the Fijian bure at the Arts Village in Pacific Harbour,” Ratu Meli said.
“We aim to inspire our youth to embrace traditional building techniques and environmental conservation.”
Yatu Lau Company and Damodar Group sought a strategic partnership, and Yatu Lau’s board successfully engaged Damodar Group at the opportune moment to secure their support.

Ratu Meli expressed hope that the Yatu Lau Arcade would be open to the public by this time next year.
“We are aiming to modernise the image of the Yatu Lau Arcade. Previously, there were concerns about the building’s condition and its appearance,” he said.
“We want to represent Lau in everything we do. The total cost is $8.6 million, financed through BSP and Yatu Lau Company.”
