Baleicakau family says time together is the best Christmas gift

The best Christmas gift parents can give their children is spending time with them, says Vuli Baleicakau.

The mother of four shared this message while enjoying a family outing at TappooCity Suva yesterday, stressing the importance of being present with loved ones during the festive season.

“We feel that the best Christmas gift we can give our children is spending time with them,” Ms Baleicakau said.

“Bringing the kids out, taking them shopping, buying them stuff is more important than just giving money.”

Ms Baleicakau, a teacher, and her husband John Baleicakau are preparing to relocate to Lautoka for new postings, making this their last Christmas in Suva before heading West after New Year.

The couple brought their four children: Vilima Ralawa, 8, Sakiusa Matailevuka, 10, Sunia Qalobula, 9, Lia Veiqaravi, 7, to TappooCity to create lasting memories during the holiday season.

“We just want to be here in Suva and spend a lot of time with our family and our kids,” she said.

Ms Baleicakau urged Fijians to prioritise time with elderly parents and family members.

“My message to people out there, the best Christmas is to spend it with your loved ones. Take time, they won’t be here for long, especially your parents,” she said.

The family’s Christmas plans were also affected by the passing of a relative.

“At the moment, we currently have no plans, the only plans is spending it with immediate family,” she said.

Ms Baleicakau said they had not purchased decorations, choosing instead to focus on quality time together.
