An American national, Gregory Daniel Agajanian, was granted bail by the Nadi Magistrate’s Court today after appearing on two counts of alleged property damage.

Agajanian appeared before Magistrate Salote Nasedra, with the Fiji Police Force listed as the complainant.

He told the court he previously worked for the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) in Denarau, Nadi, earning $200 a day, and is currently unemployed.

Agajanian said he came to Fiji four years ago to care for his father’s property in Carreras, Votualevu.

Police did not object to bail but sought strict conditions.

The court vetted the financial status and reliability of the surety, Poate Hicks, who was presented as Agajanian’s caretaker.

Agajanian chose to represent himself after Magistrate Nasedra explained his options, including self-representation, Legal Aid, or private counsel.

Magistrate Nasedra imposed strict bail conditions, including a stop-departure order preventing him from leaving Fiji until the case is concluded.

Police are expected to summon the complainant before the next hearing.

Agajanian will reappear in court on July 13.
