Bail application set for man accused in Laqere checkpoint incident
Police prosecutor seeks more time to gather information on case.

A 40-year-old man accused of attempting to murder a police officer during an incident at the Laqere checkpoint last month will have his bail application heard next Thursday.
Domoniko Tabau appeared before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere at the High Court in Suva today.
Police previously stated that Tabau was allegedly one of three men inside a vehicle that drove through a police roadblock at Laqere, where officers were on duty.

During the hearing, the police prosecutor requested additional time to gather more information regarding the case.
Justice Tuiqereqere also ordered the police escorting officer to ensure the accused received medical treatment.
Meanwhile, defence lawyer Gavin O’Driscoll informed the court that his client had instructed him to file a bail application.
Tabau faces three charges: attempted murder, serious assault, and possession of equipment intended for theft or another property-related offence.
