Six men accused of transporting marijuana from Kadavu to Suva were denied bail by the Suva Magistrate Court this afternoon.

Letia Tokoni, Saimoni Mule, Sakiusa Timi, Apisai Daveta, Tevita Vuki, and Timoci Lolohea were intercepted by police in Kadavu waters last week.

Each man is charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, while Lolohea faces an additional charge of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs.

All six appeared before the Magistrate Sofina Ali and applied for bail. However, the application was denied, with the magistrate citing the significant quantity of drugs involved and strong public interest in the case.

The matter has been adjourned to October 13 for plea.
