Man accused of killing uncle in Lami to face high court

The murder case involving a 31-year-old man accused of killing his 57-year-old uncle in Lami has been transferred to the High Court in Suva.

The accused, Petaia Sematanagauna, appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne at the Suva Magistrate Court yesterday.

He is charged with one count of murder.

It is alleged that on September 13, Sematanagauna punched his uncle several times at their home in Namuka-i-Lau, Lami, resulting in his death. The deceased was a retired military officer.

The case was adjourned to October 8 for the extension of the accused’s warrant.

It will be called at the High Court on October 17.
