A joinder application was filed in the High Court in Suva yesterday by businesswoman Zareen Sabman Bi, seeking to join civil forfeiture proceedings involving Imran Khan, Deborah Kim and Rajneel Rohit.

The application comes amid ongoing proceedings by Khan and Kim, who are seeking a stay of execution on a February ruling that imposed a permanent restraining order over more than $400,000, residential properties and motor vehicles believed to be proceeds of crime.

Ms Bi’s lawyer presented the application before Justice Senileba Levaci yesterday, seeking payment of a judgment sum from funds restrained by the High Court.

According to a 2024 Magistrates Court judgment, Ms Bi successfully sued Khan in a civil matter, where he was ordered to pay about $44,000, including interest.

The court heard Ms Bi had sold her rental business to Khan.

A contract was drawn up outlining the handover of the business, including loans owed to three financial institutions and the transfer of vehicle ownership to Khan.

However, the Magistrates Court heard Khan failed to uphold his part of the agreement after taking over the business.

The High Court will deal with the matter in due course.

All parties have been given time to file affidavits in response to Ms Bi’s application. The matter will next be called on August 20.
