Couple further remanded in 12.33kg cocaine case

Both parties ordered to file submissions by August 25, with closing submissions set for August 27.

The High Court in Lautoka has further remanded a couple accused of possessing and attempting to export 12.33 kilograms of cocaine.

Alzaid Shain Rizwan Ali and Grace Katia Liuvoliga face two counts of unlawful possession of 12.33 kilograms of cocaine and one count of unlawful exportation of illicit drugs.

It is alleged that on February 15, 2024, the pair unlawfully possessed the cocaine between Vuda Bypass Road and Field 40 in Lautoka.

They are also alleged to have attempted to facilitate the exportation of the illicit drugs. The two appeared before Justice Riyaz Hamza.

Ali and Liuvoliga remain in remand and were represented by Samuela Heritage, while the State was represented by Winny Yee.

The State sought further time to file its submissions. Both parties have been directed to file and serve their submissions by August 25.

Closing submissions have been scheduled for August 27.
