A 21-year-old woman charged with infanticide has been granted bail by the High Court in Lautoka.

Maca Nagogo appeared before Justice Riyaz Hamza yesterday on a charge relating to the alleged death of her child in 2024.

Nagogo was represented by Litia Vateitei of Astas Law, while Joeli Naivalu appeared for the State.

During the hearing, the prosecution informed the court that information and disclosure materials would be ready at the next court appearance.

The particulars of the offence are expected to be formally read to Nagogo on that date.

Nagogo had previously been remanded by the Magistrates Court. Defence counsel applied for bail, which was granted by the High Court.

As part of her bail conditions, she is required to report to the nearest police station on the first Saturday of every month. She must also surrender any travel documents in her possession.

Nagogo has undertaken to comply with all bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned to June 26 for further proceedings.
