Court stops TISI Nadi branch election
The Civil High Court in Lautoka has restrained Then India Sanmarga Ikya Sangam from conducting its Nadi branch election after members filed legal action challenging the process.

The Civil High Court in Lautoka has stopped a scheduled election organised by the Then India Sanmarga Ikya Sangam (TISI) for its Nadi branch.
The case was filed by Mun Sami Chetty, Rohit Ashwin Raju, Sachin Krishna Pillay and Ganga Dharan Pillay against Praveen Kumar Bala and TISI.
The matter was heard before Justice Mohammed Mackie on May 30.

Lawyers Jasveel Karan Singh and Elvindra Dass of Dass Law and Associates appeared for the applicants.
Justice Mackie ordered that the defendants, their servants and agents be restrained from convening the branch election during the annual general meeting on May 31.
The court also ordered the applicants to provide the registration certificate for the first applicant's vehicle within two weeks.
In addition, the applicants are required to deposit $5000 within two days of May 30.
Mr Bala is the national president of TISI.
The court heard that Mun Sami Chetty is the secretary of the TISI Nadi branch and a life member of the organisation.
Mr Raju is also a life member of TISI, while Sachin Krishna Pillay and Ganga Dharan Pillay are life members.
The matter has been adjourned to June 16 for mention.
