Supreme Court Judge Justice David Ashton-Lewis, the Commissioner of Inquiry into the appointment of former Anti-Corruption Unit head Barbara Malimamali, has confirmed his participation in a civil case filed by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The case names Mr Lewis, the Commission of Inquiry (CoI), and the Attorney-General of Fiji as respondents.

In this matter, the JSC is seeking the court’s permission to file a judicial review challenging the CoI report and its recommendations.

Civil High Court Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere confirmed receiving notification from Sherani & Co. regarding Mr. Lewis’ involvement in the case.

Justice Tuiqereqere also noted that Lewis has 42 days to file his documents, with the deadline set for December 3.

Additionally, the judge confirmed that all CoI-related cases will be heard together on December 12, although separate rulings will be issued for each case.
