Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa has confirmed receiving a $2 million demand notice from former Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem, saying the matter is now before her legal team.

Ms Mataiciwa said the notice was served through Saneem's lawyers and was addressed not only to her but also to several other officials.

While declining to comment on the specific claims contained in the lengthy document, she said legal advisers were reviewing the demand before any response is made.

Despite the legal action, Ms Mataiciwa sought to reassure the public that the work of the Fijian Elections Office continues uninterrupted.

She urged voters not to be distracted by the ongoing legal matters and instead focus on preparing for the next General Election by ensuring their voter registration details are up to date.

Mataiciwa also acknowledged she had been informed that complaints had been lodged against her following discussions by the Constitutional Offices Commission but said she had not yet been formally served with any complaint.

She indicated she would respond once any official correspondence is received.

Reiterating her message to voters, Mataiciwa encouraged Fijians to become informed participants in the electoral process and ensure they are ready to cast their ballots when the election is called.
