High Court asked to order return of six electronic devices in Charters case

The High Court in Suva will hear an urgent application by former journalist and sports marketing expert Charlie Charters next Tuesday seeking the return of six electronic devices containing confidential information.

Charters filed an urgent inter partes application seeking the return of the devices, which the Suva Magistrate Court ordered to be released last Friday.

However, the court heard that Charters’ lawyer, Samoan Fatiaki, was subsequently served with another search warrant relating to the same devices, resulting in their continued retention by police.

The High Court was informed that the applicants are to serve the Commissioner of Police with the inter partes application through the assistance of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The matter has been adjourned for hearing, with both parties expected to appear before the High Court.
