Two people accused of importing methamphetamine had their bail extended today by the High Court in Lautoka.

Mereani Caginisiga and Kalokalo Mataunidilo, face charges related to the alleged possession and importation of nearly 492 grams of methamphetamine.

The pair appeared before High Court Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza.

Caginisiga faces two counts, unlawful importation and possession of methamphetamine, while Mataunidilo faces one count of unlawful importation.

It is alleged the drugs were brought into Fiji at Nadi International Airport on January 6.

A second count against the pair alleges the unlawful transfer, transport, and importation of methamphetamine between December 31, 2025, and January 6, 2026.

The State has been given 14 days to file information and serve consolidated disclosures to Mataunidilo’s solicitor.

Caginisiga, represented by Unaisi Baleilevuka, confirmed she was ready to enter a plea.

Mataunidilo, who previously appeared in court without legal counsel, told the judge he intends to change lawyers.

Justice Hamza adjourned the matter for plea on April 24. The State is represented by Sheenal Swastika.
